How often should I post on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin in 2022?

It is a grey area for marketers when deciding how often to post on social media. So if you are sat asking the question, ‘how often should I post on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn in 2022?’ Super Digital are here to help save the day!

Does how often you post affect engagement on social media platforms?

Now, if you are looking to get 1000 followers in 5 minutes… We can’t help you, other than by saying, you’re going to need a big budget for ads. However, we can help if you are wondering how often you should post on Instagram and other social media platforms from the new year onwards. If this sounds like you and you are also wondering how to increase your engagement, reach and website clicks, then you might want to read on! The amount of content you post alongside the quality of the content are huge factors for the success of your pages. This is because you don’t want to post so little that your audience forgets who you are, but you also don’t want to post so much that you begin to become a nuisance. So this is our advice on how much you should post on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn in 2022.

The first key thing is to remember, if it’s not a good post, it’s not worth posting – posting repeatedly with zero interactions can harm your profiles in the long run. Social media algorithms are tricky beasts, so it’s better to take a week off from posting, than just posting any old thing that will either get no traction, or draw attention to you in the wrong way, as this may prevent your posts from showing up in timelines in the future!

So… How often should I post on Instagram?

On Instagram, in an ideal world, you want to aim to post anywhere from once a day, to 5 times a week. It is more important to get the consistency and quality correct first. If your audience begins to know you post 3 times a week then it is important you follow that structure and don’t drop to once a week. If this happens, your engagement will most likely drop. A great way to increase your engagement would be to post once a day but make sure it is high quality. If this seems like a hard task, then it might be a good idea to schedule posts. A mistake a lot of businesses make is posting every day but their quality drops from their previous standard. Then you end up posting poor content and nobody wants that right? Posting often whilst keeping the content to a high standard will increase your chances of seeing a positive result in your engagement and other important metrics.

Another great way to increase your website views would be to create blogs and articles. Blogs are a great way to get more viewers and they also give you content to post on social media. If you’d like to learn why blogs are so important, we have a blog explaining this in more detail. (A blog explaining why you should write blogs inside another blog, who’d have thought?)

How often to post on Twitter?

For Twitter, it is slightly different from Insta and here’s why. Some companies post 10-50 times a day, as the lifespan of a tweet is normally around 15-20 minutes. However, that feels pretty overboard and not necessary (also, who has the time?) But we do recommend posting once a day or even twice a day if you have the time available. If you do post more than once a day, make sure to spread your tweets throughout the day. Threads are also another way to get a more detailed tweet out as Twitter have a character limit on posts.

How often to post on Linkedin?

Now Linkedin again is a bit different, in both the frequency of posts and type of posts. So if you aren’t using this we recommend implementing it into your marketing strategy:

  • 40 million people use LinkedIn to search for jobs each week.
  • Personal accounts tend to get more engagement and interaction than business pages
  • Posting throughout the typical 9-5 day might see you get less engagement as many users are working professionals

We suggest trying to aim to post once a day or at least, somewhere between 1 to 3 posts a week at the minimum. We would also recommend posting early in the AM (pre 9am), around lunchtime (11am-1pm) or late afternoons (4-5pm) for the best engagement. Now without sounding like a broken record, we can’t stress enough how important it is to focus on QUALITY. Quantity is great but there is no benefit of you posting every day if it is recycled posts or a poor screenshot with a rushed caption. The quality of social media content is only getting better and better, so in 2022 the competition is going to be even harder. This is why it is crucial you put effort into getting your content correct! Make sure you leverage your personal pages and those of your employees to amplify your message. How often to post on Facebook?

Most research shows that posting once a day is the sweet spot for Facebook. As HubSpot has shown, accounts with under 10,000 followers had a 50% drop in engagement if they posted more than once a day in the last years. If you have over 10,000 followers, then you may want to post 2/3 times a day as it’s shown to increase engagement for the majority of accounts of this size.

In short, our advice would be to try and post once a day on most platforms. If you can’t post once a day as you are busy or have other projects to be working on, aim to post at least 2/3 times a week. Alternatively, this is where Super Digital can help.
